Environmental Health, a key public health intervention in disease pandemic prevention

The World Environmental Health Day (WEHD) is dedicated to the raise awareness about the importance of environmental health, environmental health services, and environmental health risk factors that communities are exposed to. Poor environmental quality has its greatest impact on people whose health status is already at risk. Therefore, environmental health must address the societal and environmental factors that increases the likelihood of exposure and disease.

This day is also dedicated to recognise the hard work and dedication of Environmental Health Professionals and authorities.

The international theme for WEHD 2020 is “Environmental Health, a key public health intervention in disease pandemic prevention”. Environmental factors certainly contribute greatly in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic. Messages on prevention of coronavirus will be included and communities will be encouraged to screen for COVID-19 and other health conditions.
