Health Minister to lead annual Rotary Family Health Days Outreach Programme

Pretoria: The Minister of Health Dr Joe Phaahla together with Gauteng for Health Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi will tomorrow (Friday), lead the 2021 Rotary Health Family Days outreach programme as part of government`s programme of taking services closer to the people.

The Rotary Health Family Health Days Campaign is one of critical vehicles to improve access to and extend the reach of comprehensive health care services which include health education, health screening and testing for a variety of conditions such as HIV/AIDS, Blood Pressure, TB, Diabetes, Hepatitis B and C, and a number of some cancers.

The Department of Health has been in partnership with the Rotarians and other stakeholders for the past eight years to reinforce the importance of regular health screening and testing which lead to early detection of preventable and manageable diseases to save lives and cut avoidable treatment costs.
