Health Minister to preside over graduation ceremony of 1 292 medical students

Pretoria: The Minister of Health Dr Joe Phaahla, will tomorrow preside over the graduation ceremony of 1 292 medical students from Nelson Mandela Fidel Castro Health Collaboration Programme.

The ceremony will be comprise of four graduation sessions, two per day in order to comply with COVID-19 regulations.

The government has invested in training black students from historically disadvantaged backgrounds in Cuba through this programme to contribute towards increasing the number of rural-based doctors.

The programme has produced more than 3 000 Doctors since its inception.

Minister Phaahla will be joined by amongst other dignitaries;
Deputy Minister of Health Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo,
Limpopo MEC for Health, Dr Phophi Ramathuba,
North West MEC for Health Mr Madoda Sambatha,
Free State Health MEC Ms Montseng Tsiu, University of Limpopo Vice Chancellor,
Prof Mahlo Mokgalong and other dignitaries.
