Health Minister to receive J&J booster shot
Pretoria: The Minister of Health Dr Joe Phaahla, will tomorrow (Tuesday), receive his J&J booster shot as part of the first group of health care workers who received their first jab under the Sisonke Trial Vaccination Drive between February and May this year.
Booster doses are needed at some stage of the pandemic especially considering new variants emerging, and boosted immune responses may translate into improved protection, including against variants of concern.
They potentially impact on reducing breakthrough infections and may increase protection against hospitalisation.
Members of the media are invited to join Minister as follows:
Date: Tuesday, 14 December 2021
Venue: Zuid-Afrikaans Hospital, No 255 Bourke St, Muckleneuk, Pretoria
