Minister Phaahla to address District Development Model Workshop in KZN

Pretoria: Minister of Health, Dr Joe Phaahla will tomorrow (Friday, 07 October), in his capacity as the District Champion of uThukela District Municipality, deliver a keynote address during the District Development Model (DDM) workshop convened as part of efforts to strengthen the service delivery acceleration plans in the area.

The District Development Model was initiated by President Cyril Ramaphosa in his Budget Speech in 2019, and subsequently adopted by Cabinet as an integrated district-based approach involving three spheres of government to address service delivery challenges through participation of local stakeholders and communities.

Minister Phaahla will be joined by provincial and district champions including the MEC for Education, Ms Mbali Frazer, Mayors in the District, Senior Managers from sector departments, Municipal Managers and Traditional leaders to discuss amongst other critical issues; building government capacity to support municipalities; maximise the impact and align plans together with resources through the development of “One District, One Plan and One Budget” to avoid duplication.
