National Health Insurance Bill Consideration
Pretoria: Minister of Health, Dr Joe Phaahla and Deputy Minister, Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo, will tomorrow (Tuesday, 13 June) attend and participate in the debate on the National Health Insurance (NHI) Bill in the National Assembly for a vote and adoption.
The hybrid debate marks a critical step or milestone for the country towards achieving the Universal Health Coverage through the NHI which aims to provide equitable access to quality health services for all South Africans based on their health needs, instead of their socio-economic status and geographic location.
Minister and Deputy Minister will attend the debate in-person in parliament, and it is scheduled to take place between 14h00 and 17h00.
This will be followed by media interactions where the department will reflect on the journey and clarify concerns raised by some stakeholders on this Bill.
