EXPIRY DATE OF COMIRNATY® PAEDIATRIC VACCINE (MRNA COVID-19 VACCINE) FROM PFIZER-BIONTECH – 6-MONTH EXTENSION ON SHELF LIFE WHEN STORED BETWEEN -90°C AND -60°C
The manufacturer submitted new stability data to SAHPRA for review and approval of the Comirnaty® dilute to use Paediatric Vaccine. Based on the data available, SAHPRA has approved a further 6- month extension of the shelf-life for all paediatric vaccines when stored between -90°C and -60°C, resulting in a total shelf life of 24 months from the date of manufacture. This shelf-life extension applies to the Pfizer batch listed in the attached table. The extension does not apply if the vaccine doses have already been moved to 2-8°C storage.
The table attached indicates the printed expiry date on the vials and vaccine cartons and the new
expiry date following this extension.
NOTE: The shelf life at 2-8°C storage is for up to 10 weeks. The expiry date should be updated as
applicable when the vaccines move through the supply chain.
